“I view my clients as good friends and family—partnering together
to further their business and goals.”
You can’t help but catch the enthusiasm of Mark Reader, CPA, CGMA, when you speak to him. He is passionate about what he does and even more passionate about the clients he serves. Mark is a partner and Law Firm practice group leader. He works closely with law firms as well as other professional service and privately held businesses to assist them with their accounting, financial statement preparation, planning, tax and consulting needs.
The firm’s resident tax expert, Mark has worked at KPMG in the middle-market tax practice as well as spent time in the private sector as a tax director. Today, he leads the firm’s tax services. He has a deep background in individual, business, and trust and estate taxation. However, his real passion and specialty lies in S corporation taxation. “S corporation taxation is a highly litigated area. Most accountants overlook critical nuances that can make a big difference for clients,” Reader said.
Mark recognizes that to best serve his clients, he must look at more than just the numbers. His unique background in both public and private accounting gives him a holistic perspective that he delivers to all his clients. When working with clients he factors in both short- and long-term considerations that could affect a business owner’s ability to achieve their goals. Then he makes his network of professionals available to assist clients in achieving their goals.
Mark holds a Bachelor in Science and Masters in Taxation from California State University Northridge. He is a member of the California Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He holds the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license and the Chartered Global Management Accounting (CGMA) designation.
Mark is highly addicted to golfing and can usually be found on the course when he’s not in the office. A father of 3, he spends a great deal of time with his family enjoying the outdoors.
